Colorado Division of Insurance Requests Policy and Claims Information Related to Recent Wildfires

 

In response to the  fast moving, wind-driven wildfire through a densely populated suburban area between Boulder and Denver on Thursday, December 30, 2021, the Colorado Division of Insurance (Division) is requesting the following information from companies as soon as possible:

  1. Please identify the number of policies written in the areas affected by the fires. Please break it down by the following:
  • Single family residence
    - Homeowners
    - Rental properties
  • Renters policies (HO-4)
  • Condominium (HO-6)
  • Commercial property, multi-peril and Business Owners Policies (BOP)
  1. Of the number of policies identified above, please provide the number of claims reported and/or anticipated.

Please note the deadline for submissions to the division is no later than 5:00 p.m. on Monday, January 3, 2022.

Additionally, in collaboration with CDPS and Boulder County Authorities, the Division is considering setting up an "Insurance Village" for affected Colorado consumers to meet with their insurance company and Division staff.

In addition to this call for data which was sent via email it is very likely there will be bulletins from the division in the coming days related to insurer responses..
